Andrew Green says Racing Point will "always be a small/medium sized team"

Racing Point technical director Andrew Green says that the team will always remain a small or medium size, claiming they are in a great place considering their number of employees. Previously known as Force India, the team have classically punched above their weight, finishing fourth in both 2016 and 2017 in the constructors' standings.

The team was renamed Racing Point after a takeover in mid-2018 and will be renamed Aston Martin for 2021 after new investment from the British supercar giants.

However, Green is comfortable with the squad being smaller in terms of size than some others, saying that their system of buying parts from Mercedes is a great template.

According to motorsport.com, Green said: "I think our strategy is always to be a small/medium-sized team. It makes sense financially, and being under a cost cap, to be working with a manufacturer on some components.

"We have been working that way since we worked with McLaren on gearbox hydraulics. We've had gearbox and hydraulics from Mercedes since 2015 and we just expanded that supply ever so slightly for this year.

"We will be evaluating it in under the new regulations as well but I think there's cost benefit to be had."
