Binotto says "there's not much to tell" his drivers

Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto says that his drivers do not need to hear what he wants them to do when it comes to battling on track ahead of the start of the 2020 F1 season. The pair clashed on track during their first year as teammates in 2019, but Binotto is sure that they both know what to do for the benefit of the team.

The boss has previously said that he will allow them to battle on track, but will implement team orders if it is needed to help the team out.

Many fans and pundits believe that Ferrari could struggle in 2020 and even be behind Red Bull, let alone challenge Mercedes. However, pre-season testing can be deceiving and the Italians could easily be closer to the Silver Arrows than it first seems.

Binotto told motorsport.com: “I think that last year has been very useful to both of them and myself to know each other, to understand how we should behave, and what should be the roles in the team.

“What's the priority? The team is first. I think that the two drivers now know each other a lot better and are behaving well. I'm very happy the way with the level of the discussion we’ve got, the level of contribution to the car, to the team, and the way that they are really discussing.

“So I think that generally speaking, there is not much to tell them, because they understand perfectly what should be the way to be able to win on track.”
