There has been a major fallout between the FIA's treatment of the Ferrari engine situation and seven of the teams on the grid. The teams put out a statement yesterday demanding transparency from the FIA. Former McLaren engineer Marc Priestley revealed his thoughts on his YouTube channel.

"It is not really surprising that the other teams are angry, that was what I was too," Priestley said about this topic. “I think it is justified to think that way. We have been abandoned by the FIA and I am only talking about how this has been communicated. Not even about whether Ferrari actually cheated, but everything points in that direction."

“Ferrari is also bothered by this. If they really didn't do anything wrong, why doesn't the FIA say that. So Ferrari himself may have reason to be angry about this, but we haven't heard from it yet. And if they were wrong, the way this was communicated is terrible. Nobody looks good because of this story.

“The FIA must now respond to this in one way or another. They will now run around desperately in Paris looking for a way to answer this. That will determine what those seven teams will do next. You can say that it produces publicity, but I think it's for the wrong reasons."

It is a shame to see this news sweep over Formula 1 so close to the start of the new season. The sport will look to sort this out quickly and move on ahead of the 2020 season.
