After investing heavily in British carmaker Aston Martin, with the cash influx including an agreement to have Aston return to the F1 grid in 2021 as a constructor, Lawrence Stroll has reportedly told the company's employees he wants to establish the team as a top team.

Racing Point, Stroll's team that will change its name to Aston Martin next year, has only existed about a year and a half. Stroll led a consortium of investors to buy Force India out of trouble in the summer of 2018, changing the team's name to Racing Point.

With their line-up of Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez, the latter being contracted until 2022, the team has big ambitions as they can't seem to sit still.

2021 will be the third rebranding of the team in two-and-a-half years, and Stroll has let his crew know he wants to work Aston Martin to the top of the grid as a works team.

On Twitter, a report from Irish F1 journalist Thomas Maher revealed what Lawrence Stroll told his side according to team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

“Stroll spoke to the staff last week and set out the clear objective to establish Aston Martin as one of the top teams," Szafnauer said.

"Everyone is proud to represent a legendary car manufacturer returning to the pinnacle of motorsport.”
