The spread of the coronavirus around the world has caused a lot of sporting events to be cancelled. Formula E is part of that as the E-Prix of Sanya in China will not take place due to safety fears. Formula E has more problems, with the race in Jakarta now in trouble.

The first E-Prix of Jarakta is scheduled for June 6, but now has to look for a new location four months before the start of the event. The circuit around the National Monument (Monas) that was envisaged until now has been rejected by the State Secretariat of Jakarta.

For the Formula E race around this historic monument to take place, the route had to be modified considerably. Among other things, temporary asphalt is laid here, which is also done in Baku, for example. The authorities thought this was going too far and so the organization of the E-Prix must look for a new location.

However, that does not have to be a problem. A spokesperson for Formula E has informed The Race that other locations were investigated in the selection process that would also be suitable. Should this ultimately not work out, then it is the intention that in Berlin and New York two races are organized in one weekend, so that a championship of fourteen races is retained.
