Formula 1 to host special auction to raise money for the Australian forest fires

There will be a special auction ahead of the Australian Grand Prix to raise some money for the forest fires that have caused serious damage and loss of life in recent months. The F1 weekend in Melbourne takes place in the middle of March and marks the start of the 2020 Formula 1 season. 

In the auction, anybody will be able to bid on special, unique experiences. This includes arrangements where you can meet up with the drivers themselves. 

What can you bid on?

A number of teams and drivers have put themselves forward for meetings. The list is below. 

  • Mercedes (Hamilton, Bottas and Wolff
  • Aston Martin Red Bull Racing (Verstappen and Albon)
  • McLaren (Norris and Sainz)
  • Racing Point (Perez and Stroll)
  • Williams (Russell, Latifi and Claire Williams)
  • Ferrari (Binotto) 

In addition to this, you can also bid to been driven around Albert Park in the safety car, a tour of the McLaren and Renault factories and various bits of clothing and merchandise from the drivers. The auction lasts until 9 February and can be found via this link. The proceeds are transferred to the Red Cross, the fire department of the state of Victoria and the world nature fund.
