Miami race organisers make fresh changers to halt opposition

It looks destined that Miami will host a Formula 1 race, sooner rather than later, but race organisers have been forced to alter plans for the race in order to halt the opposition to the race.

The original plans for a race in downtown Miami were rejected and now a race around the stadium home to the NFL team the Miami Dolphins hit a roadblock.

The race has received opposition with locals voicing their concerns regarding noise, air pollution and disruption. However, in a statement, Formula 1 confirmed that they had consulted relevant parties and have a new proposed track layout.

"The Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix announced a series of changes to its proposed track configuration and race schedule, incorporating feedback received during months of dialogue with residents, elected officials, faith leaders, local businesses, and scientific experts," the statement read.

There had been lots of concern regarding the disruption of schools, but they hope they have found a solution to this.

"Notably, the new Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix track configuration eliminates the use of Northwest 199th Street for a portion of the racetrack, and the weekend race schedule will be altered to ensure that there is no racing prior to 3pm on Friday of race weekend in order to ensure that there isn’t any disruption to local schools."
