Pierre Gasly arrived at Red Bull with plenty of pressure on him and as it was he couldn't make the cut at the constructor. Helmut Marko believes Gasly should take some of the responsibility for his exit.

Gasly replaced Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull as the Australian departed for Red Bull. His time at Red Bull couldn't have started on a much worse note as he failed to score points at the opening race of the season in Melbourne. His form in the opening half of the season wasn't enough for him to keep his seat and he was replaced by Alex Albon from the Belgian Grand Prix.

Marko believes the Frenchman needs to take some responsibility for his departure and highlights a certain Dutchman as to why he couldn't succeed with Red Bull.

"It seems to me that Pierre should take some of the blame,” The Chequered Flag quote Marko as telling the Russian version of Motorsport.

“He came to Red Bull and saw only one goal in front of him – Verstappen, no one else.

“If he had accepted from the very beginning that Max is still faster, and tried to gradually get close to him – but he tried to change his style, tried to reduce the gap in other ways, change something, try to attack harder. And this led to complete failure."

Despite a tough spell at Red Bull, he was rejuvenated upon his return to Toro Rosso and Marko praised this, adding: “However, his return (to Toro Rosso) was amazing.”
