The W Series will be one of the Formula 1 support races at two Grand Prix's in 2020. The all-female series will be part of the race weekend at the United States and Mexican Grand Prix and the aim is to introduce the series to a larger audience.

The first six races of the W Series season will be in Europe, where the series will follow DTM and be part of their schedule. For the two races they will fly out and support the Formula 1 weekend and they will race on Saturday at both Grand Prix's.

Ross Brawn is pleased to have the W Series on board as it is helping increase the diversity of motorsport.

“We are delighted to welcome W Series to two such spectacular events of the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship such as those in Austin and Mexico City.

“In just one year, W Series has contributed significantly to increasing interest in the topic of diversity and inclusion in motorsport.

“We are convinced that our sport must offer equal opportunities for men and women to compete together – it is no coincidence that improving the diversity of the F1 grid by supporting and promoting driver talent from under-represented backgrounds is one of our strategic objectives.

“The ability for the great crowds who traditionally attend the Austin and Mexico City Grands Prix to see these talented female drivers up close will definitely further raise the awareness of the importance of inclusion and diversity in motorsport.”

Who will win?

Jamie Chadwick won the inaugural competition last year and will bo looking to back up her performance with another impressive display. The racing last season was close and racers like Beitske Visser and Alice Powell will all be racing at the top.

Hopefully more Formula 1 fans will see the series and it can help grow the sport.
