We all know that to become an F1 driver it takes years of hard work, but to become an F1 driver at a young age takes even more work and sacrifice. F1 is seeing a boom in young drivers right now, with the likes of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, George Russell and Lance Stroll making it to the sport at a young age.

Williams star Russell is one of the most exciting, dominating F2 in 2018 before a solid, if frustrating year with the backmarkers.

The Brit reveals the sacrifice he and his colleagues had to make in order to live their dream of racing in F1.

He told Autosport: "We all left school early, took a big sacrifice there, none of us were out partying and drinking through our teen years.

"We all thought this was the norm. We didn't think we were doing anything special. We just thought that's what it takes to become an F1 driver.

"I think it's only now that we sort of are appreciating that we did go above and beyond to reach our goals, and it's great that people are appreciating that, and we are performing to a decent level."
