In complete contrast to the 2021 F1 season, no rule changes will be made ahead of 2020 and Max Verstappen sees this as an advantage for himself and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. This means that all the cars will remain virtually unchanged from the 2019 season with the only differences being upgrades over the winter break.

"That way you can continue to build on the current. There are no real changes in the rules. In addition, I also think it will help us start our second year with Honda," Verstappen explains to Motorsport.com.

Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Racing team advisor, predicted five wins for his team during the 2019 season. They fell two short of this target, but Verstappen did spend lengthy periods in the second half of the season battling with the Mercedes cars. Verstappen believes the work developing the Honda engine last season will show results immediately, along with chassis developments.

“The performance of the engine has improved enormously and I think we also know where we have to improve ourselves. Progress has already been made with the car and we also realise that if we want to fight for the title, we have to be there from the start," Verstappen added.
