Lando Norris has said that his teammate Carlos Sainz has been helpful to him in his first season in the sport as the team secured a fourth-place finish in the constructors' championship.

The Brit enjoyed a fine season of his own, securing 49 points after making his debut in the opener of the season in Australia.

"Carlos was a good mentor for me. I really don't want to say that, because then I get the feeling that I am the worse of the two," Norris told Motorsport.com.

"But I learned a lot from him, probably more than he naturally learned from me through his experience, which is normal.

"There are many things that have helped me to do better, that have helped me to beat him in some cases. That is because of what I picked up thanks to him

"He was very good himself and was open to helping me. I tried to give him the same.

"I think this was also something good between us last season. He was a good person to learn from."
