As the curtain falls on motorsport in 2019, Cyril Abiteboul has paid tribute to Renault's young star Anthoine Hubert, who sadly passed away following a crash in Formula 2 at Spa-Francorchamps. Hubert, a Renault academy driver, had taken two wins in the season and was seen as a potential F1 candidate in the future.

At the recent F2 prize giving, the Anthoine Hubert Award was announced for the most impressive F2 rookie of the year, and was awarded to another Renault academy talent, Guanyu Zhou.

Abiteboul sais, according to Motorsport-Week.com: "We will never know what Anthoine could have gone on to achieve, but we can be proud to have helped Anthoine realise some of his dreams.

"He won his first Formula 2 race in Monaco in May and later went on to be victorious on home soil in France. His hard work and determination is how we will remember him."
