For weeks, Lewis Hamilton has been linked with a switch to Ferrari but the Italian team's chief executive has played down the reported talks between Hamilton and the Ferrari chairman.

In 2019, Hamilton won his sixth Formula 1 World Championship with eleven wins and his highest points tally of any of his Drivers' Championship wins. It was also a fifth with Mercedes and the Brit will be targeting a record-equalling seventh title in 2020.

Despite Hamilton seeming very happy at Mercedes, he has been consistently linked with a switch to Ferrari over the last few months. However, the Ferrari chief executive has tried to cool talk and played down the talks the World Champion had with the Scuderia chairman.

Louis Camilleri told the media in Maranello: "It has been public that Lewis has had conversations with our chairman.

"It was a social event, which has sort of been blown somewhat out of proportion. It was a social event. They have some common friends.

"You may be somewhat disappointed by this answer... but the fact is we have a long-term agreement with one driver and with the other driver the agreement expires at the end of 2020.

"We are clearly very flattered that Lewis, in particular, and other drivers want to come and join us, but it would be premature to decide anything today. It would be premature to decide anything now for the future."
