Roy Nissany is aiming to get back a Formula 2 seat after missing the 2019 season due to injury and also for a role with the Williams Formula 1 team in 2020.

Nissany was driving for Williams at the Abu Dhabi post-season test and drove for the British side for two half-days at the Yas Marina Circuit. Nissany raced for F2 team Campos in 2018 before injury kept him out of the 2019 season.

The Israeli racing driver has admitted the call-up to test for Williams over the past couple of days came as a surprise for him, and is hoping the "door will open" into the Formula 1 world for him.

"It was an opportunity which came earlier this year after an injury that I had during 2019," Nissany said to RaceFans. "(That) was the reason I didn't race in Formula 2.

"My management could get us the right support and got the connection to Williams, (which) allowed me this huge opportunity, and it was a great experience. I hope it will open my door into the Formula 1 world."

At the moment, Nissany's management team are working on a deal where the Israeli driver would have some sort of role with Williams for the 2020 season: "The aim is also to race in Formula 2. So, I will do three days of testing as well."
