Nico Hulkenberg concludes Formula 1 career with a "worthy result"

Nico Hulkenberg has summed his final Formula 1 afternoon up as a "worthy race". The German bows out of the sport after Renault opted for Esteban Ocon instead. The Hulk finished in P12 and outside the points. Even if the stewards hand Charles Leclerc a penalty, he will not score any points.

Hulkenberg, who has completed 177 Grands Prix racing for four different constructors, finished the world championship in 14th place. In his final race review for Renault, Hulkenberg stressed how he couldn't pull off a one-stop strategy.

“We threw everything at it today and it was a shame not to score any points. The one-stop strategy was hard to pull off and my tyres were degrading too much at the end. Still, we had positive race pace and were very much in the fight until the end," Hulkenberg said.

"It was a worthy final race for me with the team. I crossed the line with good feelings. It’s been three good years with them and we’ve grown very close like a family. I’m grateful and thankful towards them for all the highs and lows we’ve had together and I wish them every success for the future.”

Nothing is yet confirmed for Hulkenberg's future.
