The death of Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert caused a major shock to the world of motorsport. The FIA launched an investigation into the accident at Spa-Francorchamps, the result of which will be presented to the World Motor Sport Council later this week.

Jean Todt has confirmed the investigation has been completed which will result in changes to safety measures. Hubert lost his life after a major crash during a Formula 2 race during the Belgium Grand Prix race weekend. Hubert ran wide and hit the barriers and then when he was coming back across the run-off area, he collided with Juan Manuel Correa who was travelling at high speed.

Correa spent two weeks in an induced coma which was followed by a number of operations.

The findings from the investigation and subsequent report will be discussed to the World Motor Sport Council on Wednesday.

"Fortunately we are not used to having that [fatal crashes] any more, contrary to in the past when we were used to see it. Today when we see that, we are very badly surprised. In the past, we were not surprised. I don't want to take any credit for that because it has been the philosophy of the FIA for decades, we always try to do things better," Todt is quoted by Motorsport
