With all of the qualifying sessions completed in 2019, we can now look back at how each teammate has stacked up against each other across all 21 qualifying sessions across the whole season.

As teammates have the same tools in a qualifying session and there is no traffic or strategy (to an extent) involved, the qualifying duel is one of the better ways to see how two drivers at the same team compare.

Of course, some drivers are better in races than they are in qualifying - Lance Stroll is a good example of this. However, in most cases, the driver who wins the the qualifying duel is also ahead in the drivers' standings (which makes sense, given they start the majority of races ahead of their teammate). It's not the case with just two teams - McLaren and Wiliams.

Both teams' rookies have managed to win the qualifying duel, with Lando Norris securing it in Abu Dhabi while George Russell equalled Fernando Alonso's record of out-qualifying a teammate on 21 occasions in a season. Still, Robert Kubica has secured Williams' only point of the season, while Carlos Sainz has been the man putting the food (or points) on the table at McLaren, bagging 95 points compared to Norris' 45.

Having said all of this, here is how each qualifying duel has ended in 2019!
