Haas boss Guenther Steiner expects the big teams to dominate in 2020

The 2021 rule changes have been revealed and Haas boss Guenther Steiner thinks that the new rules will impact the 2020 season as well. A budget cap is set to be introduced in 2021 and Steiner thinks that this will lead to teams spending more money in 2020 in preparation for the new rule.

The Haas boss is worried that this could lead to 2020 being a season only for the top teams.

“As always, the big teams will always have an advantage," Steiner said. "They just have more resources and more people to develop the 2021 car to the new regulations, while at the same time developing a 2020 car.

"The budget cap comes in place in 2021. In the first years, I don’t see a big difference in how the pecking order between the teams stacks up. There will still be the big three and then the rest. We know that.

"Hopefully, the gap closes a little bit to the big ones over time. For sure, we will try to do our best with whatever we have got to develop a good 2021 car.”

It will be interesting to see if there is any change in the constructor's championship in 2020 before Formula 1 is turned upside down in 2021.
