Lewis Hamilton has just wrapped up his sixth F1 world championship title and the 34-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down just yet. In fact, the Mercedes driver has said he wants to get started on a new contract.

Hamilton's current contract at Mercedes expires at the end of the 2020 F1 season. With six titles in the bag, he could end up equalling Michael Schumacher's elusive seven world titles next season and push beyond that in 2021.

Hamilton has already talked about his interesting in racing beyond 2021 and it seems as if that will become a reality.

"It's almost like I only just did this contract and I already have to start talking about the potential of the next one. It won't be really stressful but it's daunting when you think about it coming up, also because you are committing to a period of time and it's sometimes hard to think that far ahead but of course it's nice to be wanted and hopefully soon we'll get that sorted," Hamilton told the BBC ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Wolff will not be in Brazil for the race this weekend as he misses his first event since he took charge of the team in 2013.

"I texted him and said 'you've built an incredible team here and we're going to do you proud'. Nothing really changes for us within the team. he will be missed on the pit wall and his input through the weekend will be missed but we are still here to do a job and our focus doesn't shift. He'll still be watching so you can still get in trouble from the headmaster," Hamilton added.
