Breaking: Formula One announce plans to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030

Formula 1 has announced a sustainability plan to have a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030. This will cover cars on the track and as well as other operations in the sport.

This comes after twelve months where the FIA, F1 teams, promoters and partners have worked on a challenging but realistic delivery plan.

The carbon reduction projects are set to start straight away in the hope of making F1 a far more sustainable sport.

"In launching F1’s first-ever sustainability strategy, we recognise the critical role that all organisations must play in tackling this global issue, " F1 chairman and CEO Chase Carey told the F1 Website.

The hybrid power unit will play a vital role in the future of the sport and the automotive industry.

Majority of the vehicles in the world are powered by ICEs, meaning there is an opportunity to reduce all carbon emissions around the world.

By 2025 F1 will make sure that every event is sustainable, meaning that all waste is reused, recycled or composted, while F1 will offer fans a greener way to attend races moving forward.
