Red Bull Racing advisor Dr Helmut Marko has said that engine supplier Honda are yet to make a decision on their involvement in Formula 1 beyond 2020 with the new regulations coming in 2021.

Honda returned to F1 in 2015 with McLaren but endured a tough few seasons with the Woking-based team dropping the Japanese manufacturer for Renault.

Toro Rosso partnered with Honda in 2018 and impressed enough to convince Red Bull to swap from Renault to their engines for 2019, proving a good move with Max Verstappen winning in Austria and Germany, whilst claiming his first pole position in Hungary.

But with the 2021 regulations confirmed the Japanese manufacturer are yet to commit their future in F1.

"Honda has not yet decided," Marko told Motorsport-magazin.com"I think the decision should be made around the race in Abu Dhabi.

"The regulations are on the table and now you can calculate by how much engine development will become cheaper.

“There will be restrictions on dyno time and different materials."
