After witnessing his son win his sixth Formula 1 championship, making him the second most successful Formula 1 driver of all time, Anthony Hamilton was visibly beaming with pride about his son Lewis' accomplishments, with Anthony being the man who coached Lewis up from a very early age.

Anthony worked multiple jobs in Lewis' youth to afford him to go karting as the two travelled all over the United Kingdom together to compete in championships.

Quickly, Hamilton got snapped up by McLaren's youth driver set-up as he rose through the ranks very quickly, ending his youth career by winning the 2006 GP2 championship.

Lewis and Anthony were always incredibly close, although there was a rift at the start of this decade, when Lewis decided to distance himself from his father when it came to Grand Prix weekends so he could concentrate more.

Now, they have been close-knit once again for some years, however, as Anthony told Sky Sports F1 just how incredible his son's career achievements are.

"I'm happy to be here as the sun is shining. An unbelievable win, six world championships, who would ever have dreamed it," he said.

He also revealed how Lewis was always focussed on the task at hand rather than the championship as a whole as the 34-year-old has won 10 races so far this season.

"We didn't really talk much about the championship. It's always about doing well at the next race. You're only as good as your last race to a degree, the focus is always to win if you possibly can, and when the opportunity like this comes around to win the world championship, you have to think about your game a little bit more.

The entire Hamilton family was present at the Circuit of the Americas on Sunday to witness Lewis securing his title.

"Lewis has pulled together a really good team of friends. All the major players in the family are here as well.

"Six means the world to him. This feels like 2007, the first opportunity we had to win the world championship."
