Williams have confirmed that Nicholas Latifi will be driving for them in three more FP1 sessions between now and the end of the season, including the Mexican Grand Prix at the weekend.

The Canadian driver currently drives for Formula 2 side DAMS and has had to fit his F1 practice schedule around the remaining races of the F2 season. Latifi will drive in Mexico, USA and Brazil for the British team.

With Robert Kubica leaving Formula 1 at the end of the season, Williams continue to assess their 2020 driver options and Latifi is thought to be one of the favourites to replace the Polish driver.

"I'm really excited to get back in the car in Mexico as it feels like a long time since my previous outing at Spa," Latifi said.

“I got the chance to drive in Mexico last year in FP1, so I am familiar with what to expect. It’s quite a unique track because of the elevation, so you have a lack of grip, which makes it challenging.

“As always, my goal remains the same for FP1, to have a clean session and help guide the team going into FP2.”

Latifi will drive in Kubica's car in Mexico, before switching to George Russell's car in America and a decision on who he will replace in Brazil is yet to be decided.
