Former Toro Rosso driver Brendon Hartley has admitted his one-year spell in Formula 1 has made him "stronger" after the New Zealand driver prepares to make his Formula E debut.

Hartley raced for Toro Rosso in the 2018 season, alongside Pierre Gasly; who really impressed for the Red Bull junior team that campaign - earning a call-up to the senior team for the start of the 2019 season.

Despite only scoring four points in his one season in F1, Hartley has no regrets over his experience in the highest-tier of motorsport.

"Formula 1 made me stronger," the Kiwi driver said to Spanish publication AS. "In the end, I have only a positive memory of the time spent there. Today I am better prepared for the first race of the championship than my F1 debut.

"I will use all the experience accumulated in that year and in the endurance to give my best in Formula E; it will be a very difficult and fascinating challenge."

Hartley will make his Formula E debut on Novermber 22, and the 29-year-old driver cannot wait to get started in the all-electric series: "There are at least 10 journalists asking me questions, people are watching the races, there are lots of manufacturers, I run along with some of the best drivers on the square. I think Formula E is an exciting place to be."
