Leclerc frustrated with "disappointing" sixth in Japanese GP

Charles Leclerc says that he hasn't seen back his first lap crash with Max Verstappen that spoilt both their races in Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix, with Leclerc finishing sixth and Verstappen forced into retirement.

Leclerc was on the inside of the Red Bull Racing driver in the first corner sequence, but understeered into the side of Verstappen, spinning him round.

The incident is under investigation and Leclerc is currently with the stewards, with an outcome expected soon.

The Monegasque told Sky Sports: "Well from my point of view I was on the inside I understeered and we touched. Whether there's someone to blame or not, I don't know - I haven't seen the situation yet, it's the way it is and unfortunately it put us on the back-foot for our race.

"Sixth is not the place I wanted to finish, it's disappointing but strategy-wise I don't think it could've gone much better.

"As Mattia [Binotto] mentioned before the weekend we need to do everything possible to match Mercedes because they're very strong."
