Verstappen fuming: "Utterly ridiculous" how neither Ferrari got a penalty in-race

Max Verstappen was left fuming with Charles Leclerc following their first lap collision that caused him huge damage and ultimately ended his race, the worst possible result for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing at engine supplier Honda's home circuit.

The Dutchman qualified in fifth and took advantage of a slow start from Leclerc to get alongside into the first few corners, but was facing the wrong way just moments later when the Ferrari hit him at turn two.

Verstappen was left angry, and told Ziggo Sport"Start went well, maybe the best of the season but then someone just drove into the side of my car. Very clumsy because I was ahead already. You know you get understeer there [in turn 2] so Leclerc can't be driving on the limit.

"I had so much damage on the side after that there was no point to continue. It's a shame but none of it was our fault"

Verstappen was also left baffled by the decision not to give Sebastian Vettel a penalty for jumping the start, adding that he thought both Ferrari drivers should've been penalised: "What else does he have to do to get a penalty. Why doesn't he get a penalty and do you have to look at it after the race. Vettel doesn't get a penalty either even though he had a jump-start. It's ridiculous what happened here. Utterly ridiculous."
