When Ferrari told Sebastian Vettel to switch off his engine during the Russian Grand Prix, Vettel commented on the radio that the sport should "bring back the f****** V12s". According to the report, his MGU-K system failed and he had to jump from the car to avoid any electrocution with direct contact.

Since then, Vettel has added to his comments made inside the cockpit. He claims he'd be thinking about a move away from Formula 1 immediately if there was another series with V12 engines.

"There's no series like Formula 1 with V12s, otherwise I would consider! But, no, I mean, obviously there's no option. These power units are very complex. I think from an engineering point of view, very fascinating, but obviously I have my stand on it, and I don't think it comes with a great upside for us racing, and people watching," Vettel is quoted by Autosport

Earlier in the race, Vettel was leading with his teammate Charles Leclerc controversially behind him. His retirement was greeted by the virtual safety car which hampered Leclerc's chances of beating both Mercedes drivers.

Vettel won four consecutive F1 world championships prior to the new hybrid era.
