Lewis Hamilton has come out in support of the FIA's decision to include drivers in their planning of the 2021 regulation changes. Hamilton had previously been critical of the lack of involvement drivers had.

A deadline for the 2021 rule changes has been set for the end of October but with just over a month to go, we are still a little bit in the dark of the ins and outs of what Formula 1 will look like.

Hamilton had been concerned by the lack of attention to the opinion of the drivers. The drivers were allowed to join the FIA with their trade union, which presented the plans. The Brit was therefore pleased with the current state of affairs at the press conference after the race.

"It is a huge step forward that we are now involved in the plans. This has greatly improved the relationship between the FIA and the GPDA and I think we have clearly been able to leave our mark," Hamilton said at the post-Russia press conference.

"Of course they cannot solve everything, but for an engineer 'is not possible' is not possible. So there is a solution for everything.

"They showed what they had learned from their simulations and that looks great. I hope I can stay a little longer so that I can race in those cars. However, the weight remains an issue, because we are going to be slower now. I hope we can take another step in that.
