Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen has expressed his disappointment with his qualifying result on Saturday in Singapore, saying P4 isn't good enough as he "came here to win" ahead of the weekend.

On a bendy, all-downforce track like the Marina Bay Street Circuit, you would normally fancy the Bulls to challenge for the top spot. However, this season, the pace just didn't seem to be there, with both Verstappen as well as Alexander Albon never getting close to the top three in Q3 on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Dutch television channel Ziggo Sport, Verstappen admitted he was left disappointed with how the RB15 behaved underneath him.

"The second starting row isn't good for us, I came here to win," the 21-year-old explained to pitlane reporter Jack Plooij.

"I said beforehand: everyone expects things to run smoothly, but you first have to find the right balance in the car. The balance was there, but there simply wasn't enough grip."

Asked whether Verstappen fancied his chances to climb the order during the race on Sunday, the Dutchman typically remained grounded in his predictions.

"A lot has to happen if you want to win from fourth. But we'll see, as I said, it's not ideal. I expected way more, but it is what it is."
