Vettel targeting improvements in Singapore

Sebastian Vettel is targeting more improvements on Saturday in Singapore after an underwhelming FP1 and FP2 which saw their rivals take a lead on them under the lights.

The opening two sessions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit very much belonged to Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen as they set the pace, one session each. Vettel finished the day in third, but only after Valtteri Bottas crashed out of FP1, hindering his performance for the rest of the day.

Vettel was honest in admitting it wasn't their finest of days but remains hopeful of finding improvements on a day he expects to be more straightforward.

“Hungary is the reference circuit for this track but today is maybe not the right day to compare and tomorrow will be a lot more straightforward," Vettel said on the Ferrari website.

"It was not the smoothest of Fridays for us and I think there’s still a margin for improvement on the car. However our rivals look very fast, certainly faster than us.

"As I said we can still improve, because the car is not yet doing exactly what I want, and in terms of balance we know where we can find some lap time.

"All the new parts that we brought seem to work, so let’s see how close we can get tomorrow.”
