Former Formula 1 driver and father of Max Verstappen, Jos Verstappen, has ruled out racing with his son in the future. Jos has not retired for good, but only races for pleasure nowadays.

Max Verstappen is one of the best drivers on the Formula 1 grid and has been tipped by many to become a world champion in the future, winning two races this season with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.

Asked on the Beyond the Grid podcast whether he would race with his son in the future, Jos Verstappen said: "No, I don't think so. I would not say that I have hung my helmet on the willows for good, but it is more of a hobby now. I still drive some cars, but that's more for my own pleasure.

"I have not raced for nine years now. I don't really miss it, because Max gives me the adrenaline and excitement. He really does that. As a father, it is incredibly exciting to see your own son racing, which is more nerve-wracking than sitting behind the wheel."

In the past, Max has often flirted with the idea of participating in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race with his father, but it seems his dad has ruled that possibility out - for now anyway.
