Charles Leclerc: Singapore “the toughest track for us drivers physically”

Charles Leclerc says the Marina Bay Street Circuit “is maybe the toughest track for us drivers physically” due to the high temperatures, humidity and the race taking place at night, admitting that it may be a “difficult weekend” for Ferrari.

After a string of races taking place in Europe Formula 1 heads over to the eastern part of the world with the Singapore, Russian and Japanese Grand Prix’s taking place.
 
The Marina Bay Street Circuit can be one of the most demanding on the calendar with the unusual schedule of the race as well as heat and humidity causing drivers to sweat a lot.
 
Leclerc said: “Singapore is maybe the toughest track for us drivers physically, just because of the heat and the humidity.
 
“It’s always a special place to go, because it’s a night race. I really enjoy driving at night and somehow, it feels a lot quicker than it does during the day.
 
“It’s just a unique weekend and I am really looking forward to being there.”
 
After his back to back victories in Spa and Monza the Monegasque is aware that Singapore will pose more a challenge on paper for Ferrari because of the low speed corners and few straights.

“After two positive weekends in Belgium and Italy, the race in Singapore doesn’t look as good on paper for us, because of the very different circuit layout, featuring lots of of slow corners and fewer straights,” he added.
 
“It might be a more difficult weekend for us, but we will give our all to have a good result.”
