Over two weeks on from the tragic passing of Anthoine Hubert, Lewis Hamilton has been speaking about the dangers of motorsport that will always exist given the nature of the sport.

Hubert was sadly killed during the Formula 2 race on the Saturday of the Belgian Grand Prix. It was a reminder of the dangers that still exist in the sport regardless of the measures the governing bodies take to reduce the possibility of tragedies.

"It is not impossible that someone perishes, so I put it on social media. I experienced it [earlier]," Hamilton said during a media session, as quoted by Motorsport.com.

"Among other things, we had the event in Japan, and when I was racing as a child, someone had died at the age of eleven. And if you experience that, it will hit you really hard as a driver.

"I don't know what it was like for others, but it touched my soul. I couldn't sleep anymore, couldn't believe what had happened. Your brain is more or less runaway, to get used to reality. We lost this year Charlie [Whiting], while the F1 continues.

"We lost Niki [Lauda], while the world keeps turning. It's very sad, but that's how life is, I think."
