Carlos Sainz says loose wheel "nothing to be concerned about" for Singapore

Carlos Sainz had a disappointing end to the Italian Grand Prix when he was forced to retire after his wheel came loose after a pit stop. The McLaren driver was on course for a solid points finish but will have to look ahead to Singapore for his next opportunity. He does not blame the pit crew for what happened and has said that he is really pleased with how they have performed so far this season. 

"It's a shame to end the day that way," Sainz said. "We obviously need to analyze what we could've done better in the pit-stop as a whole team, but honestly, this year the pit-stops have been great; our guys have been doing an outstanding job on the pit-wall and in the pit-box, so nothing to be concerned about. Heads up high.

"We've lost a potential P6, but we've gained a lot more this year with good strategies and good pit-stops. Let's analyze and come back stronger."

With Renault's strong 4th and 5th in Monza, McLaren will be starting to look behind them as the midfield battle intensifies. They will hope to get back on track at Singapore next time out.
