It has been a tough season for Romain Grosjean but his day in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix has given  pleased the Frenchman but he's all too aware of the challenges he faces on Sunday.

Grosjean will start ninth at the Belgian Grand Prix as he benefits from penalties to both Renault drivers who will drop five grid places for changing their engine. His teammate Kevin Magnussen will start one place ahead of him in eighth for Haas.

It hasn't been easy for the Frenchman this season but he was pleased with his outing at Spa on Saturday.

“We got the best of the car today, both drivers, so that’s great. Since the beginning of the weekend we haven’t really been comfortable with the car," Grosjean said in Haas' post-qualifying report.

"I think this weekend has showed some of the weakness we have, but that’s good as we have a very clear vision of where we need to go for the future – that’s the positive part."

Despite having a positive day Haas' issue all season has been their race pace and Grosjean is expecting even more struggles on Sunday.

"On the more negative side, I think our race pace isn’t there, so I’m a bit worried for tomorrow."
