Horner: "Rule changes have been a lot of pain"

Red Bull are widely renowned for having the best chassis on the grid and it has helped them win four World Championships. However, Christian Horner believes the rule changes caught the team cold and they never realised how important the front wing would be.

Adrian Newey and co were expected to provide a good chassis for the team whilst they adapt to the new Honda engine, but it seems Red Bull got it wrong at the start of the season and didn't realise the use of front wing.

"I think the rule changes have been in a lot of pain in the last period. The use of the front wing is essential and we did not realize it at first. Now that we are increasingly getting the rules under control, we know how to restore aerodynamics. With the new tires on top, our chassis was having a hard time," Horner told Motorsport.com.

Red Bull brought an update with them to Austria and since then they have won two of the following four races as we head into the mid-season break.

"We have made good strides with the chassis lately and hopefully we can continue that line after the winter. That still has the most margin for improvement," the Brit concludes.
