Binotto: We shall do whatever we can, even in this season to do our best

Binotto: "We shall do whatever we can, even in this season to do our best"

It has been far from a successful first half of the season for Ferrari, but with the summer break underway team principal Mattia Binotto has insisted there is still a lot for the Scuderia to race for.

Ferrari started the season with a new sense of energy as Binotto replaced Maurizio Arrivabene but the constructors are yet to win a race this season. Charles Leclerc came close in Bahrain and Austria but was ultimately denied and Sebastian Vettel received a controversial penalty in Canada to hand Lewis Hamilton the victory.

Ferrari have been considerably off the pace of rivals Mercedes for most the season and are now slipping behind Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

Despite their lack of downforce showing at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Binotto insisted they won't focus on next year's car and feels there is still plenty to play for.

"Should we concentrate on next year's car? I don't think so," the Italian said as quoted by Autosport.

"Not only because [of] having the same regulations as next year, whatever we can do this year will be to the benefit of next year's car as well.

"There are still many races, no victory for Ferrari - we have at least a goal and an objective, so we shall do whatever we can, even in this season to do our best."
