Brawn: "He simply got his head down and put his foot down"

Max Verstappen held his nerve to claim victory at the German Grand Prix and Ross Brawn has praised the performance of the Red Bull driver highlighting his focus as those around him made mistakes.

Verstappen won his second Grand Prix in three races at the Hockenheimring to close the gap to Valtteri Bottas in second to just 22 points. He overcame a difficult start and a spin to stand on top of the podium ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Daniil Kvyat.

Whilst many struggled to manage the conditions, Verstappen seemed to have them under control and Brawn praised the Dutchman's performance and how he dealt with the early mishaps.

"The Dutchman and his Red Bull delivered an almost flawless performance in Hockenheim," Brawn said in his post-race debrief.

"The only two mistakes were a less than perfect start from the front row that briefly dropped him to fourth, and a harmless spin after switching to medium tyres shortly before half distance.

"However, as was the case in Austria, Max didn’t let either misstep impact on his performance, and again as with Austria, he simply got his head down and put his foot down on the way to a masterful seventh career win – and a point for the fastest lap of the race."
