Norris rues frustrating qualifying

Lando Norris has expressed his disappointment following his qualifying session in Germany which saw him fail to make it out of Q1 for the first time

Norris qualfied in the final elimination spot of 16th as he failed to make it to Q2. His McLaren teammate Carlos Sainz continued his good form as he qualified seventh for the German Grand Prix.

Norris' failure to make it out of the first qualifying stage was the first time he's not made it out of Q1 this season, and the first time since Monaco in which he has failed to reach Q3.

The Brit was frustrated after not giving himself a better starting platform but vowed to make up for it on race day.

“I’m obviously disappointed. It’s the first time I’ve missed out on Q2 – frustrated because of that and annoyed because it’s not giving me a very good starting position for tomorrow," Norris said on McLaren's website.

“There was more potential in the car as Carlos showed by getting into Q3. I just didn’t hook the lap up today when it mattered. I’ll just have to make up for it tomorrow.”
