On Thursday, the temperatures lifted into the 40c mark at the Hockenheimring. However, the weather forecast looks interesting for the weekend as some rain is on the radar for Saturday and Sunday. Max Verstappen says he'd prefer it to rain rather than have the heat during the race.

In Austria, Verstappen won his first race of the season as the Red Bull car performed well in the heat. The Mercedes cars couldn't deal with the high temperatures as they struggled across the weekend. The Silver Arrows have upgrades coming this weekend which are expected to deal with these issues.

As a result of this, the flying Dutchman would prefer a drop of rain to help him along on Sunday.

"I think that rain here on the Hockenheimring can be fine for us. Mercedes has now taken another chassis with them so I expect they will have solved the cooling problems by now," Verstappen told Motorsport.com and other journalists.

It hasn't really rained during the 2019 Formula 1 season. Almost 12 months ago, Verstappen struggled to handle the rain during the Hungarian Grand Prix. But the Red Bull driver expects things to be different when it does rain in 2019.

"At that time we mainly had problems with the floor. It seemed as if you were going through the bend with open DRS then. Luckily we solved that problem. Furthermore, it is still a bit difficult to say in terms of confidence in the rain," Verstappen added.
