Former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger believes Sebastian Vettel is "under a lot of pressure", but believes the four-time world champion can only start to perform well again when he's feeling good within himself.

Vettel is yet to win a race this season, although he went extremely close in Canada. The Ferrari driver was first to the chequered flag but was penalised following an incident with Lewis Hamilton.

Now, Vettel has come under immense scrutiny recently, with the former world champion crashing into Max Verstappen at Silverstone and tumbling down the grid in Great Britain.

It's Vettel's home-race this weekend, and he is determined to make amends following last season's crash at Hockenheimring. Berger believes Vettel is under huge pressure but has offered the German his support.

"Vettel is not feeling well," Berger explained to Speedweek. "Sebastian has never liked pressure. He is now under a lot of pressure but he will get over it.

"Try not to be nervous. Just accelerate and try to perform. Also, don't read newspapers! There are people who can perform if they feel good or not. Vettel can only perform if he feels good."

Berger also says Vettel is right not to feel good with Ferrari, considering its form recently: "You can feel extremely comfortable with Ferrari. However, there are also times when this is certainly not the case. Vettel is currently in such a period."
