Mattia Binotto remains confident Sebastian Vettel will stay at Ferrari despite the German going through a rough patch and almost 12 months without a single race win. Vettel, who will compete in his home event this weekend, has faced plenty of criticism following his crash with Max Verstappen during the British Grand Prix

And in amongst that criticism, there's been calls for the four-time world champion to leave Ferrari, to take a sabbatical, or leave Formula 1. But his team boss, Binotto, believes he'll continue to fight and come out of the tough period.

“I think Vettel is happy to be with us. Of course, he would be happier if he returned to winning races and if he had a stronger car. I see in him a great desire to keep racing and to win again. His dream is to do that with Ferrari and I have no doubt about his intentions and his commitment," Binotto told Corriere dello Sport.

Vettel has been spotted with both Christian Horner and Helmut Marko over recent weeks which have opened up rumours of a move back to his old team. The Red Bull boss was quick to shut these down.

“If we meet for a chat, that’s far from an indication that we will work together again soon. To my knowledge, Sebastian is under contract for 2020. There are no negotiations," Horner told Speedweek.
