Lewis Hamilton does not want Formula 1 to race at street circuits. The Mercedes driver believes that street circuits don't suit the sport as they don't allow opportunities for overtaking. The Brit is worried that the circuits being signed for the future are not being selected for their racing but instead for business and expansion of the F1 brand.

“We know better than anybody which track we can overtake [on] and which track we can’t,” Hamilton was quoted by FoxSports

“There are ones that [F1] are selecting for the future that we’re going to have not such great racing, the ones that are on the calendar that aren’t great.

“We’ve got places where you just can’t follow and it's like a train. And so, what would you prefer? Having a race in those countries just for the sake of having a race - or do you want a great race like this?”

Formula 1 needs to be careful about getting the balance between choosing circuits for their financial benefits and the racing on track. Historical circuits like the Monaco Grand Prix have their place in the sport but we all want to see racing like we did last weekend at the Silverstone Grand Prix more often.
