Binotto heaps praise on "competitive" Red Bull

Red Bull have shown to the world of motorsport recently the strides they are making in closing the gap to Ferrari and Mercedes which has led to Mattia Binotto praising his direct rivals and even suggested the Scuderia may not be the second-best team.

At their home race in Austria and then the recent British Grand Prix, Red Bull have shown considerable progress in closing the gap to their rivals. Max Verstappen won in Austria, showing great speed to overtake the Ferrari pair and was on course for P3 at Silverstone until Sebastian Vettel took him out.

Verstappen leads Charles Leclerc and Vettel in the Drivers' Championship and it appears it is cause for concern for the Ferrari team principal.

"They have improved, as we can see in the last two races, they won in Austria and were competitive [in Silverstone]," Binotto said as quoted by Formel1.de.

"Actually, the track in the UK is not the Red Bull, but updates have probably helped to a significant improvement on the traditional course."

"Our packages are now very close to each other, it's hard to say if we're second, but it gives us a boost because we know we need to improve.
