What does Friday tell us about the rest of the weekend?

So, Friday at the British Grand Prix is done and now we prepare for the business end of the weekend. As always, it's tough to predict what's going to happen based off Friday running, but we like to try at GPBlog, so here you go:

Ferrari to return to Mercedes' shadow? After their brilliant performance in Austria and Charles Leclerc almost taking the win, Ferrari were unable to repeat the form at Silverstone on Friday. Leclerc was ahead of Sebastian Vettel in both sessions, but they were both behind the Mercedes runners in FP2, and even trailing the Red Bulls in FP1! Therefore we believe that Mercedes will return to their best, leaving Red Bull and Ferrari to fight it out behind them.

Alfa Romeo to struggle? Frederic Vasseur said recently that his team were aiming for McLaren this weekend, but it hasn't gone that way so far, with Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi both failing to get into the top ten in either session. They seem to not only be slower than McLaren, but also Toro Rosso, Racing Point and perhaps Renault.

The last straw for Grosjean? Romain Grosjean's had a really poor year, hasn't he? Just two points scored and today he managed to spin on the pit exit. I'm no expert, but how does that happen? It's sad to see Grosjean's apparent decline, but this could be the weekend when Haas finally decide enough is enough, and it could well be his last British Grand Prix.

Wind to cause havoc? Drivers struggled in FP2 with crosswinds causing a number of drivers to run off the track. Lewis Hamilton and Vettel both suffered from this, but winds are expected to calm down over the weekend, so it may not be too much of a problem. Rain however, is forecast to be around tomorrow, so watch out for that...
