Max Verstappen struggled to find his form during FP2 and finished the session in 7th place with a 1:27.562. The Dutchman experienced some issues with both tyres on the left of his car and this ultimately meant that he could not push the car through the corners. After the session, he revealed what it was like out on track and what the new tarmac was like to drive on.

"The new tarmac we had so we had to try and understand the grip levels," he told Sky Sports F1. "Its a bit bumpy in some places but in general there's more grip. All drivers like it. It was quite windy so that's not easy. We clearly didn't have a good car balance so that makes it even more difficult."

When asked if the car felt completely different after Austria the Dutchman said, "At the moment yes. This Friday is one of the worst I've had yet so we have a lot of work to do."

However, he was confident that Red Bull would bounce back in time to compete in qualifying.

"It's promising that we are so close to Mercedes and Ferrari. There's a lot of potential."

Red Bull had looked good in FP1 where Pierre Gasly topped the timesheet so the team will be hopeful of getting things back on track in time for the business end of the weekend.
