Haas still trying to understand race problems

Haas boss Guenther Steiner is still trying to work out how the team can be so impressive in qualifying, but only ever go backwards in the race.

The American squad has only scored one point in the last four races, due to Romain Grosjean's tenth placed finish in Monaco and they find themselves ninth in the constructors' standings, above only Williams.

Despite these worrying issues, Steiner believes Haas can get back to their best this season.

According to thecheckeredflag.co.uk, Steiner said: “We need to understand why we have these deficiencies between qualifying and the race, then we can work on it.

“At the moment, we’re in search of that issue.

“It’s always good to be back at your base where you can work on the car better, but from the data side there is no difference. Wherever we are in the world, we can do the same job.”

Steiner added that this isn't a one-off problem, and that he has seen it before in his career, but this is surely the most frustrating occurrance.

“More than once I’ve encountered this problem,” Steiner added.  “I wouldn’t say it’s normal, but it’s part of the job. You always have to keep on doing a better job, but there are setbacks.

“It’s very competitive, especially Formula 1. At the moment, we are a little bit on the back foot. I’m sure we will get back to where we want to be.”
