Kimi Raikkonen on what he would do to improve F1: I would remove all data analysis
Kimi Raikkonen believes that Formula 1 would be improved if data analysis was banned. The Finn thinks that the sport is being ruined by numbers and that by removing data, teams would have less idea of what strategy to choose and therefore races would be more exciting.
“If it were possible, I would remove all those data analysis," said Raikkonen to Austrian magazine Motor Profis. "Although you can no longer adjust your car with so much data, the feeling comes back more and certain qualities would make the difference.”
The Alfa Romeo driver thinks Formula 1 could take a leaf out of Nascars book.
“Racing in an oval seems very easy, but the truth is far from it. It is more pure racing. If you realize that you are not fast enough, then you can talk to others, but ultimately you have to draw conclusions yourself. ”
“But in Formula 1, the data tells everything you need to know. If you have to find your own setup and cannot look at the computer, then it would be a completely different sport."
Formula 1 would certainly be a different sport if data analysis was banned but whether it would be more entertaining or not is a different question.
