Toto Wolff has revealed what it has been like attending races without Niki Lauda, following the Austrian's passing in May, and it is clear the world of motorsport is still feeling his absence.

The Austrian Grand Prix won by Max Verstappen last weekend was the first race in Lauda's home country since his death in May following a spell of ill-health. Lauda had worked as the non-executive chairman of Mercedes since 2012 and was key in bringing Lewis Hamilton to the team.

Wolff spoke after the Austrian Grand Prix about what it has been like travelling to races without the Formula 1 great, and it is clear he is still dearly missed.

"Sometimes, when I'm on the plane, I look to the right and think, 'There he sat'. He just lacks in all matters," Wolff told Sky Sports.

"Most of all, he lacks me as a friend, we have grown together very closely over the past six years.

"We laughed together, we cried together. We have hearty laughter and not always youthful jokes. Most of all, I miss that super-lover I had."
